From imperial Peking duck in Beijing to smoky street food in Xi’an, delicate crab roe noodles in Suzhou, legendary soup dumplings in Shanghai, and fiery mountain cuisine in Hunan, traveling through China became just as much a culinary journey as a cultural one. This blog explores how every region revealed its own history, traditions, and identity through food — one unforgettable meal at a time.

From towering sandstone pillars hidden in the clouds to glowing mountain towns alive with food and nightlife, Zhangjiajie felt unlike anywhere else I’ve ever traveled. In this final chapter of my journey through China, I explored the surreal landscapes that inspired Avatar, crossed the world-famous Glass Bridge, wandered mist-covered mountains, cruised through peaceful lakes, and experienced the culture, food, and atmosphere of one of the most visually unreal regions on Earth.

From the peaceful canals and classical gardens of Suzhou to the neon-lit skyline of Shanghai, this second chapter of my journey through China explored a completely different side of the country. Wander through centuries-old markets, tranquil garden pathways, futuristic skyscrapers, Old Town alleyways, and unforgettable cultural performances while experiencing the contrast between ancient tradition and modern ambition across eastern China.
